Entry #2 Yes, Stickmen.

Hello! Welcome to the Wonderfully Strange, where I talk about certain media I enjoy babbling about. For today, I wanted to talk about a huge obsession of mine, one I have had since I was a child. I unfortunately forgot about it growing up, but it resurfaced after one video brought back memories of a certain YouTuber. And by the name of this title, you can take a lucky guess.

  Alan Becker — YouTuber

Alan Becker is a well-loved and respected YouTuber who has been in the game for 20 years! Known for his animation videos featuring 5 stickmen (Green, The Second Coming, Blue, Yellow, and Red, in that order) and their wild adventures, it really stuck with me even now, as a 20-year-old. He originally started on a user-generated platform called Newgrounds, where I watched his first-ever upload.

Looking back, Alan was one of the reasons I got into drawing in the first place, the other being my sister. Though as I got older and went through middle school, I gave up on that passion because I thought I would never be as good as my peers,  and also forgot about the creator who changed my brain chemistry. However, a few months ago, I got a video on my social about one of the characters, and it instantly clicked, like a part of me was just restored, my inner child, if you will. I truly recommend watching this series; they may be sticks, but they all have different personalities and mannerisms, and it's really a treat!

  1. Montranay, I really enjoyed this blog post. I instantly smiled when I saw the image of Alan and his stickmen. Even though I had never heard of this guy, I became curious as to the draw of his appeal. I hope you get your artist groove back because everyone has their own uniqueness, and that should be celebrated. Thank you for sharing this!

  2. I loved watching Alan Becker with my siblings. We would watch his Minecraft shorts. I'm glad he gave you the inspiration to start drawing.
