Entry #6 Music and Vocaloid

Image
Project Sekai Colorful Stage! - Video Game Growing up, I have always had a passion for music. One of the earliest memories I have is when I was singing songs with my older brother. To rock down to country, I really did not mind anything. But one day, when I was around 9, I was staying over at my Dad's for break, and he let me borrow his old iPhone for the time being. At the time, I was just watching toy unboxing and Minecraft videos, the usual for me. However, I got a video recommendation under one of the videos I was watching, and it was of a 3D anime girl with long teal hair, and I instantly fell in love with her voice. Thus, that began my downward spiral with Vocaloid as a whole.  Vocaloid  technology is a voice bank that is recordings of human voices, using which you can create songs just by inputting lyrics and a melody. Thousands of Vocaloids are being created every day. The most popular of the bunch is, of course,  Hatsune Miku , who is the girl I mentioned before....

Entry #4 God and Grace

As everyone knows, Roblox is an online game platform and game creation system that has been around for 2 decades. Many games have been made and played, most being for children and or "brainrot" if you will. But what if there was a game on Roblox that challenges those popular games? A game that explores religion, self-doubt, and how hard you can concentrate without dying? Well, yes, there is! And that game is called Grace.                                                                    Grace    — The Faltering Few Grace is a Roblox game that focuses on movement and speed to get from point A to point B. And when I say speed, I mean it; the game is really fast-paced. Not only that, but you also have to deal with entities that reflect your sins (the character you're playing as) after every safe room you...

Entry #3 Art

Image
I recently read an article from  The Verge  about a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States regarding whether AI-generated art can be copyrighted. It explains that the Court declined to hear a case arguing that any artwork created entirely by artificial intelligence should receive copyright protection (which is blasphemy). Because this happened, copyright law requires a human creator for a work to be protected. The report presents the legal outcome and explains why the case was important for the future of AI-generated content.                                                                         Purple    —  By me As someone active in the art community, I find it truly upsetting to witness AI becoming the norm. How can people in power decide to punish others whose ha...

Entry #2 Yes, Stickmen.

Hello! Welcome to the Wonderfully Strange, where I talk about certain media I enjoy babbling about. For today, I wanted to talk about a huge obsession of mine, one I have had since I was a child. I unfortunately forgot about it growing up, but it resurfaced after one video brought back memories of a certain YouTuber. And by the name of this title, you can take a lucky guess.       Alan Becker — YouTuber Alan Becker  is a well-loved and respected YouTuber who has been in the game for 20 years! Known for his animation videos featuring 5 stickmen (Green, The Second Coming, Blue, Yellow, and Red, in that order) and their wild adventures, it really stuck with me even now, as a 20-year-old. He originally started on a user-generated platform called Newgrounds, where I watched his first-ever upload.    Alan Becker Shop — Alan Becker                                   ...

Entry #1 Escapism and I

Image
In my free time, usually after classes and schoolwork alike, I enjoy playing video games. Though not just for entertainment, but for the sense of calm and familiarity it gives me. Gaming allows me to decompress and step away from troubles going on in life; it is rather healthy, especially if you can learn something of importance for the real world. It is a space where I can relax, reset my inner thoughts, and feel safe emotionally. For me at least, video games are not about passing time just to do so; they give me room to breathe in a world that often feels overwhelming.                                                         Lost Records: Bloom & Rage — Don’t Nod Entertainment  That brings me to a game I played about a year ago that left a huge impact on me,  Lost Records: Bloom and Rage . The game follows a girl named Swann and ...

The two blogs I chose were very different from one another. The first one I will discuss has a dark, personal tone, while the latter is more headline-oriented, which I found boring. In my eyes, one had soul, even if it was strange, while the other was too much information at a time, with barely anything there.                                                                     For the first blog I read, it was  DostoevskysBlog , and the creative tone it has is very cozy. The humor that bleeds with existential crisis and depression is really well done. The art on the blog can be discouraging, but in a welcoming way. The blog follows a series of organized steps, such as a routine for the day. The format is a long-form reflective post with steps and descriptions on what to do next. The purpose seems to be a...
